Subitec specializes in the development and production of sustainable organic products derived from microalgae. The photosynthetic production of the raw materials takes place in closed, also sterilely operable, land-based or water-based bioreactors. Subitec GmbH offers the flat panel airlift reactor (FPA), which meets the requirements of a commercial mass production of microalgae. A small layer thickness and a directed flow via static mixers ensure ideal light supply for all algal cells. Types of algae used include Chlorella vulgaris, Isochrysis aff. Galbana (clone T. iso), Haematococcus pluvialis and Phaeodactylum tricornutum. Subitec was founded in 2000 by scientists from the Fraunhofer Institute for Interfacial Engineering and Biotechnology (IGB) as a spinoff. The Managing Director of the company is Dr. Peter Ripplinger.
